Belly Dance Beginner 2- Series
Course Description:
Belly Dance has deep traditional roots as well as modern forms of expression. It is danced to Egyptian classical music composed during the mid-20th century. The music is expansive and sweeping, with strong rhythmic lines and lyrical melodies. The dance reflects the music: expansive use of space and body line and varied qualities of movements ranging from powerful to refined through which the dancer can express the rhythm and 'feel' of the melodies. Because Belly Dance has an extensive movement vocabulary; students should have about 6 months of Beginner 1 classes or the equivalent from another instructor (not including videos) before starting Beginner 2. Of course some students will need more or less time than others to be ready for Beginner 2. So if you are unsure of which class to take, feel free to contact The Open Mind Center to find the right class for you. Belly Dance Beginner 2 classes cover introductory choreography, stage/performance technique, and sometimes special classes on props such as veils, finger cymbals, etc.
